Job Summary

Supply Chain Planning & Procurement Team Lead

Primary focus: Manage purchasing execution while establishing and developing a more structured supply planning function.
  • Supervise and develop the Buyers establishing clear priorities and accountability.
  • Develop material planning processes to align purchasing with production requirements and anticipated demand.
  • Establish visibility into material requirements lead times open orders and upcoming shortages.
  • Introduce more consistent use of ERP/MRP tools to support purchasing and planning decisions.
  • Develop planning parameters including lead times reorder points safety stock and minimum order quantities as appropriate.
  • Coordinate material requirements with Manufacturing Engineering Quality and Operations.
  • Establish shortage tracking and escalation processes to minimize production disruptions.
  • Work with the Inventory Manager to improve inventory accuracy material availability and excess inventory management.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and follow up on commitments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing planning and material flow.
  • Provide regular reporting on material availability shortages inventory and supplier risks.
  • Escalate significant supplier capacity and cost issues to the Senior Director.
People management: Formal management of the Buyers/Planners with responsibility for developing planning capabilities within the existing team.
Inventory: Initially remains a separate reporting line with the structure to be reviewed after the Senior Director is hired.
