Supervisor Lab-Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing

The Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Supervisor provides day-to-day operational and personnel oversight for the phlebotomy and specimen staff serving the main hospital (inpatient units) as well as affiliated off-site Patient Service Centers (PSCs). This role ensures high-quality patient care regulatory compliance workflow efficiency and consistent laboratory standards across all service locations and shifts. The supervisor serves as a key liaison between laboratory leadership clinical departments and external service sites supporting optimal specimen integrity turnaround times and patient satisfaction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

• Minimum of 8 years phlebotomy and specimen processing experience
• Minimum of 4 years experience in a leadership or laboratory assistant role preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent Associates and bachelors degree preferred
• Nationally recognized Phlebotomy certification (ASCP NHA NCPT or equivalent)
• Must have no disciplinary infractions in the last 12 months or must have a performance evaluation
• Must be compliant with all educational and organizational policies and procedures
• Must have flexibility to work in all areas of the lab as needed
• Must be able to work independently at the off-site Patient Service Centers
• Must be able to provide Phlebotomy Services to Nursing Home residents in the community with minimal oversight
• Preceptor Trained ability to train new hires according to Lab Leadership directives
• Strong positive communication skills and professional demeanor with patients staff and leadership
• Evaluation Stay interview disciplinary action process employee engagement process improvements
• Familiarity with NYDOH TJC OSHA regulatory standards and infection control
• Knowledge of Charge Reconciliation EBEW and CEW corrections
• Knowledge of Pathology Send Outs Labcorp and Reference Billing
• Provide continuing education and skill refreshers to ensure ongoing competency and professional growth

Salary Range: $27.52-$41.27 /hour Pay is based on experience skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
