As a State & Local Tax Intern at Baker Tilly (BT) you will deliver tax advisory and compliance services to clients. Gain hands-on experience in state and local taxation
Maintain and expand knowledge base in the multi-state tax area by working on various projects including but not limited to conducting research and preparing memorandum on SALT issues (for individuals corporations and flow-through entities) assisting in M&A due diligence voluntary disclosure programs and various compliance matters
Experience projects involving sales and use taxes realty transfer taxes income / franchise taxes gross receipts taxes real and personal property taxes excise taxes taxes imposed on local level and unclaimed property
Assist with addressing issues and questions for internal clients and potential prospects
Participate in our intern orientation technical training and development program designed to provide the tools needed to contribute to client engagements
Experience on-the-job training through real work engagements showcasing how your academic experience translates to the professional environment
Learn directly from experienced associates seniors managers and partners with specialized experience and technical knowledge across numerous industries and services
Build friendships and strong work relationships while gaining valuable experience
Demonstrate your performance and ability to join Baker Tilly as a full-time associate
Education
Currently enrolled or pursuing abachelors or masters degree program inAccountingor a related business discipline from an accredited preferred.
Must haveat least one academic termremainingfollowing completion of the internship.
Experience
No prior professional experience volunteer customer service or other relevant experienceanddemonstratedinterest in accountingorprofessional servicesarepreferred.
Certifications / Licensure
Required:
On track to meet the educational requirements for CPA exam eligibility and/or Bar exam prior to the start ofafull-time Associate position.
Candidates mustbe authorized towork in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Knowledge & Technical Skills

The pay rate ranges for this job position are listed below. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicants skills prior experience qualifications degrees professional certifications workarrangementsand geographic location. Baker Tilly offersacomprehensive compensation and benefits packageto eligible employees.
In Seattle WA: pay rate range is $28.75to $96.60
In California: pay rate range is $27.50to $109.20
In Denver CO: pay rate range is $27.50to $92.40
In New York City: pay rate range is $31.25 to $105.00
In Chicago IL: pay rate range is $27.50to $92.40
InTewksbury MA: pay rate range is $28.75to $96.60
The national pay rate range is $25.00to $84.00
