Substitute Teacher

Downtown Oakland Science Academy seeks a Full Time Substitute to lead students to academic success in a diverse compassionate school community.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with administrators andin grade level teams daily to ensure coverage for classes and advisories in need of a substitute.
• Internalize and follow lesson and unit plans for daily substitute needs in all subjects.
• Support general education students and special education students with 504 or IEP plans.
• Focus on professional learning and mastery through weekly professional development and coaching sessions.
• Leverage technology and web-based programs to guide students in their own learning.
• Know students well develop a strong sense of community and belonging in the classroom and personalize each students learning experience
• Build strong relationships with families including meeting with families on a scheduled basis to share information about their students and the school.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• B.A. or B.S. required
• Valid California 30-day substitute permit
• Commitment to the mission of Envision Education
• Commitment to professional learning and growth
• Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve in service of student academic outcomes
