Job Summary
TITLE: Substitute School Nurse (Registered Nurse OR School Nurse Teacher certification)QUALIFICATIONS: Current license as a Registered Nurse by the RI Department of Health RIDE Certification - Valid All Grades School Nurse-Teacher Certificate in grades PK-12in RI Public Schools (preferred) Three years of documented experience as a Registered Nurse (pediatric experiencepreferred) Current CPR/AED/First Aid CertificationTo support Barringtons commitment to diversity and to foster inclusion respect and equity ineducation the successful candidate will be selected from a diverse pool of will be given to candidates who articulate their commitment to valuing inclusivitydiversity and TO: Building Principal Director of Pupil Personnel and RI Department of HealthJOB GOAL: Provide nursing support to a building in the absence of a school nurse teacherPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Provides health assessment planning intervention evaluation management and referralrelated to acute and chronic illness first aid mental health medication management andhealth education for students and staff.2. Responsible for direct and indirect care given to students in compliance with schooldistrict policies professional standards of practice physicians orders and theIndividual Health Care Plan.3. Implements individual health care and emergency care plans for students with healthcare needs to ensure safety and optimal health.4. Provides specialized medical care to high risk students and those with chronicillnesses (allergies asthma diabetes seizures medically fragile etc.) to assist thechild in achieving the highest possible functional level in the school setting.5. Administers first aid and emergency care for illness and injury to students/staffproviding immediate medical attention and related follow-up action as indicated.6. Practices according to the standards of clinical nursing practice as established by theAmerican Nurses Association the laws of the State of Rhode Island as established inthe Rhode Island Nurse Practice Act and adheres to the Rules and Regulations forSchool Health Programs (216-RICR) as established by the Rhode IslandDepartment of Health and Rhode Island Department of Education.7.
