APPLICATION TIMELINE:

Substitute applications will be accepted beginning September 15 2026 with screening through October 9 2026.

The earliest possible start date for substitute work will be after October 15 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

2. Experience working with children preferred.
3. Flexible and able to adjust daily routine.
4. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.

6. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.

7. Fluency in speaking reading and understanding the English language is required.

8. Applicants must also meet one of the following criteria:

• Associates degree or 48 college credit hours from an accredited college or university. (If you have a foreign transcript it must be evaluated by aTEA-approved credential evaluation agency.)
• Earn a minimum score of 70 on both sections of the DistrictsParaprofessional Proficiency Test. The testmust be completed withintwo (2) daysof submitting your application.

Please ensure you use the same email address listed on your CFISD application. Use of a different email address will invalidate your test results. Once your testing account has been established you will receive separate instructions for accessing the assessment.

9. Completion of the required RIVS Virtual Interview within two (2) calendar days of application submission.

Failure to complete the required interview within the designated timeframe will result in the deactivation of your application and removal from further consideration.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

One positive professional reference required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Substitutes are employed on an at-will basis and are not considered contractual employees.

FEES:

There is a fingerprinting fee (approximately $50.00) associated with this application process.

SALARY:

$85.00 - $95.00/day

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Responsible for implementing the Districts instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated in accordance with district policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis.

2. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Substitute Para Educators/Paraprofessionals assist the teacher in the classroom or handle clerical duties to include answering phones or receptionist duties workroom copying/stapling/sorting etc.

To maintain active substitute status substitutes are required to work a minimum of four full-day assignments eight half-day assignments or an equivalent combination within each 30-day period.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing stooping bending pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom equipment.
