Job Summary
Position Overview
The Substation Physical Designer position requires 5-7 years of related experience and an accredited bachelors degree in engineering technology or an associate degree. This position is responsible for Southern Companys Transmission and Distribution Substations design.
Key Responsibilities
The position is responsible for providing engineering drawings specifications and material requirements for substation projects emphasizing safety quality scheduling and costs. This position requires approximately 25% travel.
Job responsibilities include:
- make safety a top priority using a safety first mentality
- being highly productive with exceptional quality on design packages
- providing technical expertise and guidance for inexperienced design personnel
- supporting Substation Field Services Project Management and other project stakeholders
- coordinating and communicating with associated departments
- supporting Southern Companys design criteria and standardization effort
- providing support for storm restoration efforts

- basic discipline knowledge

- some discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor
- understanding of Physical Design tools and applications (AutoCAD Electrical TEAMS Stomps SCST Vault Maximo)
