Job Summary

- Bachelors degree in Engineering Business Supply Chain Management Construction Management Commercial Management Law or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Typically 10 years of progressive subcontract management contracts administration procurement supply chain commercial or project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting EPC EPCM energy chemicals resources industrial infrastructure manufacturing or major capital projects.
- Strong understanding of subcontract management principles commercial contracting practices and risk allocation methodologies.
- Experience developing subcontracting strategies and leading subcontract execution across complex projects.
- Thorough understanding of contract types commercial frameworks and contractual terms and conditions.
- Experience negotiating subcontract agreements involving construction engineering fabrication maintenance and specialty services.
- Strong knowledge of legal structures commercial risk management claims avoidance and dispute resolution practices.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors simultaneously within complex project environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead subcontract administration personnel and project commercial teams.
- Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication presentation negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Experience preparing and presenting commercial recommendations risk assessments and subcontract performance reports to project and executive leadership.
- Proficiency with subcontract management systems ERP platforms procurement systems and commercial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of quality HSE regulatory and compliance requirements related to subcontractor management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders resolve conflict and build collaborative working relationships.

Subcontracts Manager
Play an integral role in delivering successful projects by leading the subcontracting strategy execution and administration that supports safe efficient and commercially successful project delivery. As a Subcontracts Manager you will serve as a key commercial leader responsible for developing subcontracting strategies managing subcontractor relationships mitigating risk and ensuring subcontracted work is executed in alignment with project objectives contractual requirements and customer expectations.
This is a highly visible role that frequently interfaces with project management construction procurement finance legal and contractor organizations. Your ability to balance commercial objectives operational requirements risk management and stakeholder relationships directly impacts project performance cost control schedule achievement and overall project success.

Purpose of the role
The Subcontracts Manager is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of subcontract activities from subcontractor prequalification and sourcing through contract award administration performance monitoring change management and closeout.
Working closely with Project Managers Construction Managers Procurement teams Legal Finance and Operations personnel you will ensure subcontract strategies support project execution requirements while aligning with corporate objectives contractual obligations and risk management standards.
This role provides leadership for subcontract administration teams and serves as the primary subcontracting authority on assigned projects. Through strong commercial judgment leadership and collaboration you will help ensure subcontractors perform safely efficiently and in accordance with project expectations.
You will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing subcontracting strategies that support project execution objectives and business goals.
- Leading subcontractor sourcing evaluation selection negotiation award administration and closeout activities.
- Managing subcontract administration teams and providing leadership guidance mentoring and performance oversight.
- Serving as the primary subcontracting point of contact for assigned projects and stakeholders.
- Identifying and evaluating subcontractors based on technical capabilities financial strength safety performance quality standards and project requirements.
- Leading complex commercial negotiations involving pricing scope schedules deliverables risk allocation and contractual terms.
- Collaborating with Legal Procurement Project Management and Construction teams to develop and execute subcontract agreements.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies customer requirements contractual obligations and applicable regulations.
- Managing subcontract risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies that protect project safety quality cost and schedule performance.
- Monitoring subcontractor performance through key performance indicators progress reviews audits and performance evaluations.
- Supporting project teams in resolving subcontractor performance issues disputes claims and commercial challenges.
- Managing subcontract changes including scope modifications schedule impacts pricing adjustments and contract amendments.
- Maintaining accurate records of subcontract agreements correspondence approvals claims modifications and commercial documentation.
- Supporting project forecasting cost management and financial performance activities related to subcontracted work.
- Collaborating closely with Construction Managers Project Controls Procurement Quality HSE and Finance teams to ensure alignment of subcontractor activities.
- Supporting contractor onboarding compliance management and performance improvement initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities to improve subcontracting processes systems tools and governance practices.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project execution commercial outcomes and subcontractor performance.
