Full-time position available on or after November 2 2026for College of Education Kinesiology and Social Work.This positions responsibilities are carried out under general supervision. The incumbent is responsible for providing highly complex professional student services in support (COEKSW) Student Success Center by coordinating and administering student success initiatives that promote student engagement persistence retention academic achievement and timely degree completion. The incumbent independently resolves complex student and programmatic issues provides guidance and advocacy to students develops and implements programs and services responsive to student needs evaluates program effectiveness and recommends improvements to enhance student success outcomes and operational practices. Working collaboratively with faculty staff and campus partners the incumbent exercises independent judgment in interpreting policies addressing complex situations and advancing the Colleges student success goals.
The incumbent exercises broad discretionary authority within delegated parameters and may serve as a working supervisor or lead person.
- Job Duties
- Duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and administer complex programs events and projects that support departmental objectives and student success initiatives.
- Facilitate student involvement in campus life through the development and coordination of programs and initiatives that promote engagement and student success.
- Plan and organize work requirements and tasks within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Determine work priorities and select appropriate methodologies from alternative approaches to accomplish program objectives.
- Handle unusual situations independently resolving complex problems and making decisions that influence departmental operations and program effectiveness.
- Provide expert guidance and information to students experiencing highly complex academic personal and institutional issues exercising independent judgment to determine appropriate courses of action.
- Assist students in resolving complex problems and making informed decisions through analysis consultation and appropriate intervention strategies.
- Advocate for the needs of individual students and groups of students with university administrators faculty and staff to support student success and equitable access to services.
- Provide support and assistance to students facing highly sensitive and multifaceted personal and institutional problems questions and challenges requiring coordination with appropriate campus resources.
- Interact with students in the most sensitive and complex group problem situations utilizing sound judgment diplomacy and effective conflict resolution strategies.
- Review existing and proposed policies practices and organizational processes and recommend revisions to improve program effectiveness and service delivery.
- Conduct studies and surveys and prepare reports with recommendations based on findings to support continuous program improvement.
- Provide analysis and guidance during office-wide implementation of new procedures and systems.
- Develop thorough and comprehensive written materials to enhance student knowledge awareness and skill development.
- Make recommendations regarding policies procedures and complex administrative actions and assist with implementation following leadership approval.
- May be required to obtain additional training and/or certification as part of professional development based on department and/or campus needs to stay current with industry standards.
- At the direction of appropriate administrator may provide support to other areas as needed.
- The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification.

- Minimum Qualifications
- Education:Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related.
Experience:Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems.
A masters degree in Counseling Clinical Psychology Social Work or a jobrelated field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling guidance or a jobrelated field may be substituted for two years of the required professional experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional personal or career counseling.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) years experience coordinating student success programs focused on identity academic achievement.
- Masters degree in student affairs education guidance and counseling administration social work or equivalent in a related area.
- Experience conducting workshops presentations and student engagement events in a higher education setting.
- Experience working with students from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds including underserved students.
- Experience implementing student-centered programs that integrate community-building or peer-based initiatives that encourage authenticity and vulnerability among participants.
- Experience developing coordinating or supporting cohort-based retention leadership development or student success programs in higher education.
- Experience planning and facilitating student retreats leadership experiences or educational workshops focused on student development identity exploration community building or persistence.

- Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations.

- Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of problems brought forward by individuals or student organizations.
- Thorough knowledge of the policies procedures activities and practices of the program area to which assigned or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge.
- General knowledge of the policies practices and activities of Student Services programs outside the program to which immediately assigned.
- General knowledge of the principles problems and methods of public administration including organizational personnel and fiscal management.
- General knowledge of interview techniques and advanced statistical and research methods.
- Ability to carry out very complex assignments without detailed instructions.
- Ability to advise students individually or in groups on varied and complex matters.
- Ability to determine the appropriate course of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals and groups in personal interactions of a sensitive nature.

- Salary Range
- Anticipated starting salary will be $6320per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full range: $6320- $9014per month.)
