Job Summary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • New Jersey CEAS or Standard Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) endorsementrequired.
  • Excellent communication counseling skills and ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with students.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education students and substance use.
  • Knowledge of NJSA 18A:40A-1 and procedures for the identification of stuents possibly abusing drugs alcohol or other substances and mental health issues/concerns.
  • Knowledge of community resources available for the prevention intervention and treatment and rehabilitation of alcohol and drug problems as well as youth mental wellness and crisis intervention.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications including Microsoft Office and virtual platforms like Google Suite for Educators.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with at risk students.
  • Knowledge of behavioral modifications and intervention strategies which will improve student behavior and motivate disaffected students.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead group counseling and classroom lessons on social-emotional skills mental wellness alcohol tobacco and other drugs.
