TekCom Resources is seeking a Structured Cabling Technical Trainer to support the development and advancement of field technicians across structured cabling fiber optic and low-voltage infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an experienced structured cabling professional with strong technical expertise leadership ability and a passion for mentoring and workforce development.
The Technical Trainer will be responsible for developing delivering and enforcing a standards-based training program focused on structured cabling installation testing documentation safety compliance and industry best practices aligned with BICSI methodologies and company standards.
Responsibilities Deliver classroom and hands-on field training for technicians across multiple skill levels Develop and maintain structured training curriculum and SOPs Conduct skills assessments practical exams and readiness evaluations Train technicians on copper and fiber optic installation standards Teach rack/cabinet build-outs terminations labeling and documentation procedures Train on testing troubleshooting and certification best practices Provide real-time field coaching and mentorship on jobsites Enforce workmanship quality standards and installation consistency Track technician progress training records and competency logs Partner with Operations leadership to identify skill gaps and workforce needs Support onboarding and technician career progression programs Assist with continuous curriculum improvement based on field feedback and industry updates.
Expectations Deliver consistent high-quality technical training and mentorship Maintain strong safety and quality standards across all training activities Help reduce field rework and installation defects through technician development Support technician growth certifications and advancement readiness Maintain accurate training documentation and reporting Demonstrate professionalism in both classroom and field environments
Required Qualifications 5 years of structured cabling field experience in commercial or enterprise environments Strong expertise in copper fiber optic and low-voltage systems installation Previous experience mentoring or leading technicians in the field Strong understanding of TIA/EIA standards and BICSI methodologies Ability to read and interpret construction drawings floor plans and cable schedules OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain) Valid drivers license and ability to travel between jobsites Strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications BICSI Installer Technician or RCDD certification Previous technical training or apprenticeship program experience Experience building or scaling workforce development programs Fiber certifications (Corning FOA or equivalent) Experience with Fluke Networks or equivalent testing equipment Experience supporting healthcare education or mission-critical environments
