Job Summary

Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Elmhurst IL
Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)
Shift: 2nd Shift 5x8 (3:00 PM 11:30 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 40/week
Note: No travel or housing reimbursement provided

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical instrument reprocessing in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in decontamination assembly and sterilization while maintaining strict adherence to industry standards and infection control protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow ANSI/AAMI standards manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs) and internal SOPs
  • Decontaminate surgical instruments using appropriate PPE and infection control procedures
  • Disassemble clean inspect and reassemble complex surgical instruments
  • Accurately assemble and package instrument trays
  • Operate sterilization equipment including washers disinfectors and autoclaves
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness functionality and damage prior to sterilization
  • Maintain documentation of sterilization cycles and instrument tracking
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure availability of required supplies
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment
Required Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Certifications
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent (e.g. CIS)
Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience
  • Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques (steam sterilization infection control practices)
  • Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs
  • Experience operating washer disinfectors autoclaves and related equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively
  • Basic computer proficiency and documentation skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in quality control within sterile processing
