Pragmatike is recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing technology company building sophisticated software systems and infrastructure at scale.

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead high-impact technical initiatives design scalable systems and help shape the engineering architecture as the company continues to grow.

This is a high-ownership role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems working across teams and turning ambiguous requirements into reliable production systems.

• Lead the design and implementation of complex production-grade systems.

• Architect scalable services and APIs using TypeScript Python and Go.

• Own technically challenging projects from design through deployment.

• Drive architectural decisions across multiple engineering teams.

• Improve system performance reliability scalability and maintainability.

• Identify technical bottlenecks and develop long-term solutions.

• Collaborate closely with Product Engineering and other technical stakeholders.

• Establish engineering standards patterns and best practices.

• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership.

• Participate in technical strategy and long-term platform planning.

• 7 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Strong experience with TypeScript Python Go or a combination of these.

• Proven experience designing and operating production systems at scale.

• Strong distributed systems and system design knowledge.

• Experience leading technical projects across multiple teams.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

• Strong ownership and ability to operate independently.

• Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes.

• Experience building high-scale SaaS or platform systems.

• Distributed systems or event-driven architecture experience.

• AI/ML infrastructure or AI product experience.

• Startup or scale-up experience.

• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
