SCS Engineers is looking for a Staff Engineer for our Long Beach office who wants to be trained and mentored in the field and office. You will provide engineering/design support to the team within our existing solid waste practice focused on landfill landfill gas recycling and composting related to permitting and design air quality and compliance support construction operation and monitoring for private and municipal clients. You will be in the office a minimum of 3 days/week and in the field as well.
How you can make an impact
You will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and do civil and environmental project work including:
Landfill and landfill gas system permitting and design including construction plans specifications and construction documents.
Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in solid waste assignment areas and related fields.
Manage projects and personnel to meet both client and SCS expectations.
Makes decisions independently on engineering or scientific problems and methods plans and coordinate work and represent us at meetings and conferences.
Field work in varied terrain and weather will be required including surveys/data gathering construction quality assurance inspections sample collection drilling oversight etc.
Office-based tasks including CAD drafting mathematical calculations report writing creating site plans and facility diagrams permit applications etc.
Business development including proposal preparation meeting with clients and attending industry related conferences/trade shows.
Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
Complete quality control reviews on all work product (reports design plans design calculations data etc.) prior to submission.
Prepare calculations for reports and in support of design documents as requested.
Review laboratory data and prepare compliance monitoring reports.
Travel (day trips or overnight 20% of travel expected)
Ensure adherence to client and company policies in all activities including health and safety security and ethics.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Environmental or Geotechnical Engineering or related egineering major required.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant civil or environmental experience required. Consulting experience business specific to the solid waste industry including landfill gas management air compliance and landfill design and permitting etc. preferred.
Competent with using MS Office and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting.
AutoCAD experience is preferred.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required.
Valid Drivers License with a driving record in good standing required.
Pay Range
USD $75000.00 - USD $80000.00 /Yr.
