Strategic Data Systems Inc. (SDS) is a growing small business federal contractor headquartered in Keller TX. SDS supports mission-critical programs for federal customers with a long-standing focus on the U.S. Navy and Department of Defense. We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing team.

Summary

The Staff Accountant will oversee all accounting operations ensuring compliance with government contract regulations company policies and applicable accounting standards. This role consists of hands-on accounting supporting both daily operations and long-term growth. The ideal candidate has experience in government contracting (FAR/DFARS CAS) and thrives in a dynamic small-business environment.

Responsibilities

Manage daily and monthly accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable payroll general ledger budgeting accruals and financial reporting.
Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
Maintain DCAA-compliant accounting systems and ensure accurate cost accounting and indirect rate calculations.
Oversee project cost tracking billing and revenue recognition in accordance with contract terms.
Assist in developing and monitoring budgets forecasts and cash flow projections.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal regulations (FAR/DFARS).
Support proposal pricing cost-volume development and indirect rate preparation.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
1-3 years of progressive accounting experience; Experience in a government contracting environment is a nice to have.
Knowledge of GAAP FAR DFARS and Cost Accounting Standards.
Experience with Deltek Costpoint is preferred
Excellent analytical organizational and interpersonal skills.
