Sr. Systems Engineer

The successful candidate would be responsible for developing new products compromising optics mechanics electronics and software. He/she would apply systems expertise to influence and develop architectures balancing performance reliability and cost within the available time and budget constraints. The candidate will design experiments and carry them out to validate concepts verify designs and demonstrate reliability. The successful candidate must be confident and capable of independent development with minimal guidance while collaborating with other team members. He/she is expected to provide technical and programmatic leadership to drive projects forward. The candidate must be confident in providing oral and written reports to customers and management.

Position is at Gener8s Boston office. Minimum a 3-day/week in-office presence is required.

Responsibilities:

Provide systems leadership to cross functional engineering teams including design quality and reliability

Develop systems architecture prototypes analyze and design mechanical assemblies

Advise management on technical direction for product development

Collaborate closer with customers on technical details and project deliverables

Develop project plans to satisfying milestones and deadlines with required actions

Develop test and assembly stations

Participate in the building and testing of small-quantity pre-production products

Manage vendors

Support Development and Manufacturing with test setup design troubleshooting and procurement

Lead technical personnel and material resources to achieve project goals

Experience & Requirements:

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience at developing instrumentation

Familiarity with optics and cleanroom practices a big plus

Expertise with standard laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes DMMs spectrum analyzers power meters microscopes precision motion stages etc.

Ability to assemble and test electro-mechanical products

Hands-on experience with CAD tools

Skilled at developing test automation software such as LabVIEW MATLAB etc.

Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP

Computer-proficient with MS Office skills

Self-starter and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

Strong organizational skills

Education:

Masters degree or PhD in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or the Physical Sciences

Minimum of 5 years of work experience
