Sr Network Engineer, Infrastructure Services

Infrastructure Services is part of ISu0026T and the foundation of Apples global network operations managing data center equipment and systems to deliver compute storage and networking services for teams across Apple including its internal developer community. From individual facilities to a worldwide network Infrastructure Services ensures the technology underneath everything works without questionnnAs a Senior Network Engineer you will be part of a team focused on enabling experiences for Apple employees and customers. Our team works across Apple to ensure the network provides secure reliable and scalable connectivity for Retail and Enterprise while enabling business this role you will translate business and operational requirements into engineered network solutions for Apples global Retail Stores and Enterprise environments. You will evaluate and qualify networking technologies develop implementation-ready designs validate solutions through lab and field testing and establish the technical standards needed to deploy them will collaborate with network architects engineering teams operations organizations security partners business owners vendors and senior leadership. The successful candidate combines deep networking expertise with excellent judgment structured problem-solving and the ability to clearly communicate complex technical decisions to both technical and executive audiences.n

This is a senior engineering role with broad scope and deep technical responsibility. You will take strategic direction business use cases and high-level architecture and convert them into solutions that can be qualified standardized deployed operated and supported at will explore emerging technologies and industry trends evaluate networking hardware and software and build technical solutions and frameworks that address Apples unique Retail and Enterprise requirements. You will lead network equipment qualification from requirements and test-plan development through lab validation pilot deployment certification documentation and production role requires an understanding of how network services directly affect the employee and customer experience. You will balance performance availability security operational simplicity lifecycle supportability cost and scalability when making engineering recommendations. You will also serve as a trusted technical partner to senior leaders and stakeholders helping teams understand tradeoffs resolve technical challenges and make well-informed scope and scale of the environment create an opportunity to engineer network solutions that make a meaningful impact across Apple.n

Understand business priorities operational challenges and technology strategies across Retail and Enterprise with business owners Architecture Engineering Security and Operations to translate business and experience needs into technical requirements and measurable success secure reliable scalable and supportable wired wireless WAN remote-access and network-security architectural direction into detailed designs configurations bills of material implementation plans and operational acceptance solution alternatives and communicate tradeoffs involving performance availability security complexity cost lifecycle and reusable engineering standards and design patterns that enable consistent global network qualification strategies and perform functional performance scale resiliency security interoperability upgrade and regression and validate network hardware and software for Retail Stores campuses offices dev properties and critical infrastructure test results defects limitations and risks; work with vendors and internal teams to drive pilots deployments migrations and upgrades while ensuring solutions are operationally ready for approved standards deployment guidance operational runbooks and knowledge-transfer trusted relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements resolve dependencies and drive technical proposals qualification findings risks and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical senior technical leadership mentorship incident escalation and root-cause analysis across engineering and operations emerging technologies and advise management on industry trends infrastructure risks roadmaps and investment telemetry incident trends and operational feedback to improve network designs simplify architectures and automate engineering and qualification processes.n

7 years designing engineering deploying and supporting large-scale enterprise campus Retail or service-provider networks across multiple sites or geographic regions including high-availability and resiliency knowledge of enterprise and data center routing/switching (BGP EVPN VXLAN Route Reflectors VRF OSPF IPv4/IPv6 multicast QoS segmentation) and enterprise wireless networking (RF design Wi-Fi standards authentication roaming capacity planning wireless security).nStrong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex interactions across networks applications security controls devices and infrastructure ability to translate business and operational requirements into production-ready technical solutions working independently across multiple concurrent producing clear accurate technical documentation including design specifications and engineering standardsnExcellent written verbal and presentation communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior leaders business stakeholders architects security teams engineers operational teams and vendors.

Experience engineering networks for large Retail environments global campuses high-density wireless deployments or other business-critical evaluating qualifying and managing networking products through structured lab testing production pilots certification deployment lifecycle management and retirement including developing test plans success criteria engineering standards implementation procedures and operational of software-defined networking network automation infrastructure as code APIs Python telemetry and automated validation with identity-based access zero-trust principles network access control security policy enforcement and application-aware with cloud connectivity SD-WAN internet-edge architecture remote access network observability and performance with benchmarking tools traffic generators packet analysis wireless survey and spectrum-analysis tools and automated regression or masters degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and industry industry certifications such as CCIE CCDE CWNE or equivalent expertise are beneficial but not required.
