The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Mobility Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) organization is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City OK.
Position Responsibilities:
Directs the development and documentation of large scale complex mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design
Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness quality and efficiency of the development effort
Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
Serves as technical consultant for disposition corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes
Works under consultative direction
Lead and provide technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems to establish the system design
Lead activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements
Lead the development maintenance or modification of system components designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation
Lead technical meetings and planning efforts presenting technical information to wide range of audiences
Manage supplier development test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals
Prioritize delegate track performance and documentation of analyses of fluid systems/mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design
Using a variety of media clearly conveys information and ideas to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message
Support proposal preparation and new business development efforts
Train and coach others
Work under minimal direction.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City OK.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology) Computer Science Data Science Mathematics Physics Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
10 years of experience with mechanical systems
3 years of experience working conceptual preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables
Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans anticipate future events and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active U.S. Secret Clearance or higher
Experience reading and interpreting engineering schematics and specifications
Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g. design test software technology avionics). Knowledge of the interaction between departments/disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g. Operations Logistics Business)
Experience performing hydraulic / fluid system analysis preferably using MATLAB and/or Easy5 software
3 years of experience designing tooling using CAD/CAM software preferably CATIA
Experience producing technical reports and presentations
Strong written verbal communications and presentation skills
Familiarity with engineering processes and methods
Experience working with cross functional teams
Experience with Model Based Development tools.

Senior (Lvl 5): $143650 - $194350
