Sr Engineer I&C

Zachry Engineering Corporation is seeking an experienced technically strong Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our growing Charlotte team. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex engineering design efforts supporting critical Power Energy and Industrial infrastructure projects for major utility and industrial clients. What Youll Do

As a Senior I&C Engineer you will lead the design and delivery of safe reliable and efficient control systems while serving as a technical resource for project teams and clients.

• Apply advanced instrumentation controls and electrical engineering principles to support multidisciplinary project execution
• Lead the design specification and integration of instrumentation and control systems for industrial and process facilities
• Develop review and approve key I&C deliverables including:
  • Instrument and I/O Lists
  • Wiring and interconnection schematics
  • Instrumentation and control system specifications
  • Loop diagrams
  • Control panel layouts
• Develop and review control narratives cause-and-effect matrices and system functional descriptions
• Perform instrument sizing selection and specification for process measurement and control applications
• Support PLC DCS SCADA and plant control system design initiatives
• Coordinate with process mechanical electrical civil and piping disciplines to ensure integrated project execution
• Participate in client meetings design reviews HAZOP studies and technical workshops
• Review and resolve complex technical issues while ensuring compliance with applicable codes standards and client requirements
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
• Lead portions of project execution including planning scheduling budgeting and quality reviews
• Support startup activities commissioning efforts and field investigations as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical Chemical Process or Controls Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• 8 years of Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience in Power Generation Utilities Industrial Oil & Gas Chemical Process or related industries
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation design control systems and industrial automation applications
• Experience developing engineering deliverables and technical specifications for complex projects
• Working knowledge of PLC DCS SCADA and industrial communication systems
• Ability to lead technical activities across multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with clients and project stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
• Experience with major control platforms such as Emerson Ovation/DeltaV Honeywell Experion ABB Siemens Rockwell Automation or Schneider Electric systems
• Experience supporting utility power generation renewable energy or industrial infrastructure projects
• Prior experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers
• Familiarity with ISA IEEE NFPA and applicable industry standards and codes
