Sr Data Center Engineer

Position Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead complex data center engineering modernization capacity resiliency and infrastructure-optimization initiatives.

• Own the technical outcome for assigned engineering workstreams; guide junior engineers and provide design authority on reviews.

• Author reference designs and standards content across power cooling cabling and compute domains.

• Serve as senior technical interface to VA stakeholders during design reviews site assessments and modernization planning.

Requirements

• Currently possess or be able to obtain VA Public Trust High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4 background investigation.
• Bachelors degree preferably in Electrical Mechanical Computer Engineering or a related field; 8years of data center engineering experience with a demonstrated record leading modernization/capacity work.
• Education substitutions (per Peraton Career & Compensation Framework): Masters degree substitutes 2 years of required experience; Ph.D. substitutes 5 years of required lieu of a Bachelors degree 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable (Associates degree 2 additional years also accepted for equivalent professional levels).

Desired Skills Tools & Certifications

• Tools: Data center monitoring and management tools including Nlyte Asset Optimizer / Energy Optimizer (DCIM) ServiceNow (ITSM/CMDB) SolarWinds Nagios PRTG PuTTY Wireshark PowerShell Python Power BI MS Visio and SharePoint. plus AutoCAD TileFlow familiarity.
• Processes: ITIL v4 service management SAFe Agile / Scrum for iterative delivery NIST 800-53 / RMF ISO 27001 TIA-942 ASHRAE TC 9.9 VA CRISP alignment NFPA 70/70E and OSHA safety practices.; TIA-942 VA Handbook 7002.
• Certifications (desirable): PE (Electrical or Mechanical) BICSI RCDD Uptime Institute ATD/ATS EPI CDCP/CDCS/CDCE LEED AP CEM. ITIL v4 Foundation (Practitioner/Managing Professional a plus) SAFe Practitioner or SAFe DevOps.
