Sr Classification Analyst

The Sr Classification Analyst assists in the development maintenance and implementation of technical and security related classification policies directed by the Department of Energy Office of Classification (DOE OC). Advises and educates personnel in the application of Classification guidance relevant to the Kansas City National Security Campus mission.

• Responsible for the coordination of classification policies and guidance with the KCNSC Classification Officer DOE OC and other Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) entities.
• Works extensively with engineers scientists and program management on technical related topics and their relation to DOE Classification Guidance.
• Applies engineering/scientific technical knowledge base to apply classification guidance and make derivative classification determinations related to manufacturing and production activities.
• Demonstrates ability to interpret technical manufacturing related documents such as fabrication drawings schematics and others.
• Interprets DOE Orders makes recommendations to management and/or implements security policies and procedures to ensure compliance by all subcontractor and associates.
• Assists the CO in making classification and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI) determinations in accordance with existing DOE classification policies and procedures.
• Provides expert analysis in the development and interpretation of local classification and Sensitive Unclassified Information guidance.
• Initiates classification and declassification reviews for documents originated within the company.
• Applies engineering related principles and concepts to assure that reports press releases publications scientific papers journal articles etc. concerning potentially classified subject areas are reviewed for classified and sensitive information.
• Delivers periodic lectures training and briefings to keep KCNSC derivative classifiers apprised of current policies policy revisions and classification guidance.
• Supports CO with audits classification procedures to determine effectiveness of classification program.
• Aides CO in reviewing classification policies for conformance with DOE and design agency classification policies.
• Reviews and authorizes downgrading and declassification of site-generated documents and material as a DOE-authorized derivative declassifier.

• At least 5 years of direct experience.
• Bachelors Degree in technical related field or 2 additional years equivalent work experience.
• Ability to travel as determined by the needs of the business.
• Ability to work remote hybrid or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
• United States Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain if required for position a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

• Must possess strong communication skills in one-on-one situations and group settings. Current derivative classification (DC) certification required
• Ability to document information and data clearly and concisely
• Ability to provide technical guidance project management consultative services and innovative solutions
• Ability to obtain DOE HQ certification as a Classification Analyst and Derivative Declassifier
• Strong understanding of database structures data models and information-flow relationships; able to identify improper or anomalous data elements within systems or migration datasets
• Proficiency using queries and data-validation techniques to verify classification markings detect inconsistencies and ensure compliance with DOE/NNSA requirements
• Able to independently apply DOE/NNSA classification guidance in complex technical settings and provide accurate determinations
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams such as Cyber Big Data ERP and engineering
• Capable of managing heavy and shifting workloads prioritizing high-risk tasks and supporting growing DC and UCNI program training needs
