Position summary
The Sr. Analyst Asset Sustainment supports General Motors facility asset sustainment planning and investment prioritization across manufacturing CCA and non-manufacturing environments. This role combines portfolio planning financial analysis project coordination risk-based prioritization data management and stakeholder engagement.
The successful candidate will help translate asset condition operational risk project needs and financial constraints into a clear and executable Non-Product Portfolio (NPP) Asset Sustainment plan annually. The role will work closely with Facilities Operations Construction Finance project managers site leaders and corporate subject-matter experts.
Two individuals will be hired into this role. They will be cross-trained and expected to provide coverage for one another across the annual planning cycle.
Key responsibilities
Asset sustainment planning
- Support the annual and multi-year NPP Asset Sustainment Planning process.
- Coordinate project intake site submissions stakeholder reviews early engineering reviews and planning-cycle deliverables.
- Collect validate and document site rankings project assumptions risk information cost estimates timing and execution constraints.
- Analyze project needs across asset categories sites risk levels and funding scenarios.
- Prepare clear recommendations and decision materials for leadership reviews.
- Support the evaluation of unplanned requests deferrals carryover and multi-year project allocations.
- Help maintain an executable plan as project conditions funding and priorities change.
Financial and portfolio analysis
- Support budget tracking forecast updates funding allocations carryover deferrals and monthly portfolio reporting.
- Reconcile project information across planning project and financial systems.
- Prepare analysis for capital approval packages funding transfers long-term planning submissions and portfolio reviews.
- Identify forecast variances data inconsistencies funding risks and opportunities to improve portfolio execution.
- Partner with ICC Finance to ensure that planning information is complete timely and aligned with financial requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit support for portfolio and funding decisions.
Tools data and reporting
- Maintain data quality in the Project Support Tool and related planning systems.
- Support data integration reporting dashboards and continuous improvement of planning tools.
- Analyze trends in asset condition project requests risk funding execution and carryover.
- Help improve data definitions reporting standards and planning workflows.
- Partner with Governance and Data Analytics to improve the use of asset-health and lifecycle information in investment decisions.
Stakeholder coordination
- Build effective working relationships with Facilities Operations Construction Finance site teams project managers and technical subject-matter experts.
- Facilitate meetings document decisions track actions and drive closure on planning deliverables.
- Communicate complex assumptions tradeoffs and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide responsive support to project managers and site stakeholders throughout the planning and funding cycle.
Continuous improvement and succession coverage
- Document core planning processes decision principles recurring activities and stakeholder interfaces.
- Cross-train with the other Sr. Analyst Asset Sustainment to provide reliable coverage.
- Take increasing ownership of portions of the annual planning cycle and portfolio reporting process.
- Contribute to improvements that make Asset Sustainment planning more transparent repeatable efficient and scalable.
Required qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Economics Engineering Operations Facilities Management or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis capital planning project portfolio management business operations facilities infrastructure or a related analytical role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
- Experience managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Strong written verbal presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related reporting or analytical tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing facilities construction infrastructure real estate or other capital-intensive environment.
- Experience with project portfolio management capital budgeting financial forecasting or investment prioritization.
- Familiarity with enterprise asset management computerized maintenance management business intelligence or project planning systems.
- Experience with risk-based prioritization condition assessment preventive maintenance reliability or lifecycle-cost analysis.
- Experience preparing executive presentations and decision materials.
Success measures
- Accurate timely and decision-ready planning and financial information.
- Reliable execution of assigned NPP planning-cycle deliverables.
- Improved visibility to project risk funding forecast carryover and execution status.
- Effective cross-coverage with the other Sr. Analyst Asset Sustainment.
- Demonstrated progression toward independent ownership of major planning-cycle responsibilities.
