Ready to Make an Impact

Were looking for an onsite intern to join our team starting in January 2027 at our headquarters in Wilmington NC. This position will average 10 hours per week during the spring semester with the potential to extend into Summer 2027 with increased hours. Your work will help lenders underwriters and credit partners stay organized make informed decisions and spend more time supporting customers. Every file you build document you review and project you support helps a small business owner move one step closer to achieving their goals.

This internship offers hands-on exposure to small business lending credit analysis portfolio management and relationship-focused client service while working alongside experienced banking professionals.

What Youll Do at Live Oak

  • Build andmaintainloan files inPrism our loan origination system ensuring lenders underwriters and credit partners have complete and organized information to support lending decisions.

  • Upload review organize andmaintainloan documentation from ShareFile and other internal platforms.

  • Perform file completeness reviews and identify outstanding financial and supporting documentation needed before underwriting.

  • Create andmaintainchecklists of missing documents and track outstanding items to help keep transactions moving forward.

  • Assistwith financial spreading debt schedules cash flow analysis and sources andusespreparation.

  • Conduct industry company and market research on prospective and existing borrowers.

  • Support portfolio management reporting and administrative activities across multiple lending teams.

  • Partner with lenders and credit teams to complete preparatory work that helps transactions move efficiently through the lending process.

  • Assistwith presentations reports special projects and process improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA AML CIP and OFAC requirements.

Required Experience

  • Currently pursuing abachelors degree in Business Finance Accounting Economics Banking ora relatedfield.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Comfortable working with documents spreadsheets and technology platforms.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.

  • Interest in banking lending financial services or small business growth.

Preferred Experience

  • Coursework in finance accounting economics business analysis or related fields.

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to organize analyze or track information.

  • Familiarity with financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements.

  • Previousinternship leadership customer service volunteer or student organization experience.

  • Interest in commercial banking lending credit analysis entrepreneurship or small business ownership.

  • Curiosity initiative anda desireto learn in a fast-paced environment.

The base pay range for this position is $19.77 - $32.12 per hour. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidates salary is determined by several factors including travel relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
