Job Summary
A speech language pathology assistant is responsible for providing speech language screenings without interpretation to perform documented tasks developed by the supervising speech language pathologist document students progress toward meeting goals and report this information to the speech language pathologist and prepare materials.
This position works under the direction of a licensed speech language pathologist.
- Administers assigned speech therapy tasks and screenings to groups and individual students as designed to accomplish the education goals and objectives determined by the IEP team
- Completes required documentation to support progress of students supported and services
provided.
- Participates in IEP team membership to support student progress
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree in an accredited SLPA Program
- Must have or have the ability to obtain a certificate of completion in speech-language pathology issued by the state of Minnesota.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in the discipline of communication sciences or disorders with additional transcript credit in the area of instruction in assistant-level service delivery practices and completion of at least 100 hours of supervised field work experience as a speech-language pathology assistant student.
- Experience working or volunteering in a school setting.
- Experience working with individualized education plans (IEPs).
