Speech and Language Pathologist (1099)

Pay rate: $55.00 per hour/1099

Job Summary

Duties and responsibilities:

Provide classroom observations and participate in pre-referral intervention activities.

Conduct formal and informal assessments for students being considered for special education

eligibility and/or speech and language services.

Interpret evaluation results and prepare written reports in compliance with state and federal

requirements.

Develop implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with

students families and multidisciplinary teams.

Facilitate IEP meetings for students receiving speech and language services and participate in

meetings for students receiving additional special education services.

Provide direct and indirect speech and language therapy services to students with communication

disorders.

Collaborate and consult with general education staff special education staff related service

providers and families to support student communication needs within educational environments.

Integrate speech and language support into classroom instruction and student programming.

Participate in case study teams and multidisciplinary problem-solving processes making

recommendations regarding interventions referrals and services.

Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with district state and federal

regulations.

Assist Student Special Services with Extended School Year (ESY) procedures and documentation

requirements.

Consult and collaborate with physicians outside agencies and community providers regarding

student needs and referrals as appropriate.

Remain current with developments best practices laws and regulations related to speech and

language pathology and special education services.

Attend district and department trainings meetings and professional development as assigned.

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate in Speech Language

Pathology or eligibility to obtain one.

Valid Washington State Department of Health Speech-Language Pathologist license.

Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or closely related field.

Knowledge of speech and language development and communication disorders.

Ability to maintain strong productive relationships with students staff parents and community

members.

Ability to work under pressure maintain attention to detail meet timelines and follow directions.

Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students parents staff and

programs.

Willingness to perform tasks as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of state and federal special education laws regulations and procedures related to

speech and language services.

Knowledge of assessment tools intervention strategies and instructional practices for students with

a variety of communication disorders.

Ability to develop and implement individualized therapy and intervention plans aligned with student

needs.

Ability to collaborate effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams supporting student achievement

and inclusion.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities timelines and compliance

requirements.

Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to analyze data and use assessment results to guide instructional and therapeutic decisions.

Experience using technology and computer applications related to documentation communication

and service delivery.

Ability to advocate for student needs while maintaining collaborative and professional relationships.

Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Related to Cultural Competence and Equity:

Ability to recognize and demonstrate awareness of ones own cultural identity and biases while

valuing and respecting the cultural identities of others.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: The work requires sitting standing walking bending stooping reaching hearing

speaking and lifting/carrying materials weighing up to 20 pounds. Duties may require prolonged

periods of computer use conducting assessments and working directly with students in classroom

and therapy settings.
