Job Summary

TRAVEL: Up to 75% travel on short notice with flexibility outside traditional business hours.


Energy Support Services a New Energy Equity company provides operations maintenance troubleshooting and specialized field services for electrical infrastructure renewable energy assets and energy storage systems. As a Special Projects Electrical O&M Technician (Level 2) you will apply your field experience to advanced inspections specialized project execution preventive maintenance and system diagnostics. You will work independently within your qualifications support subcontracted labor and junior technicians on-site and build renewable energy expertise through company-provided training and a defined development pathway to Technician Level 3.


INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE WELCOME

We recognize that skilled electrical professionals come from many industries. Candidates with experience in electrical construction industrial maintenance manufacturing telecommunications HVAC electrical systems and controls utilities power generation data centers heavy equipment military electrical occupations renewable energy or related technical fields are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided on ESS equipment processes solar PV systems and energy storage assets.

PAY

$75000 - $95000 annually depending on experience and qualifications.


Essential Functions

Safety & Field Leadership

  • Promote and lead by example in establishing a strong culture of safety in all special project work.
  • Safely perform approved hazardous electrical energy control procedures and select task-appropriate PPE.
  • Participate in and actively critique Pre-Job Briefs and Job Safety Analyses; use personal LOTO as a worker or act as work leader when trained and approved.
  • Identify mitigate and immediately report hazardous conditions.

Special Projects Execution & Maintenance

  • Assist in planning and executing special projects in accordance with project procedures schedules milestones and quality requirements.
  • Perform visual mechanical and electrical inspections testing preventive maintenance repairs and commissioning support on electrical infrastructure power generation assets renewable energy systems and energy storage systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance using methods such as infrared thermography insulation resistance testing continuity testing and other electrical diagnostic techniques.
  • Conduct on-site work observations and quality inspections and provide technical direction within assigned qualifications.
  • Oversee and support subcontracted labor and junior technicians on-site to help ensure work meets safety quality and performance standards.

Diagnostics & Project Support

  • Use monitoring platforms SCADA systems Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) and electrical test equipment to identify equipment or system performance issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical control communication and operational issues using safe systematic problem-solving methods.
  • Work safely around AC and DC equipment including systems operating up to 600Vac and 1500Vdc when appropriately trained qualified and authorized.
  • Support the Director Special Projects with project schedules milestones deliverables job documentation and technically accurate client proposals.
  • Provide input into project budgets track project-level expenditures and communicate project risks and potential mitigation strategies.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Record and report faults deficiencies and nonconformances observed during site activities.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of inspections maintenance testing and repairs using the company CMMS platform.
  • Accurately document time materials expenses and travel associated with daily work.
  • Stay current on electrical safety practices industry standards and emerging technologies.
  • Share technical knowledge and practical field guidance with junior technicians and contribute to company training materials and SOPs.



Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience working with commercial industrial utility mission-critical mobile-equipment or other complex electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot AC and DC electrical systems using appropriate test equipment and safe work practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics single-line diagrams control drawings engineering plans and construction as-builts.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution controls motors drives protection equipment and/or power generation systems.
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification or ability to obtain within a company-established timeframe.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% on short notice and work outside traditional business hours.


Preferred

  • Technical degree apprenticeship military electrical training or certification in an electrical or electro-mechanical field.
  • NFPA 70E certification or demonstrated electrical safe-work-practice training.
  • Experience with digital multimeters clamp meters insulation resistance testers thermal imaging cameras power quality analyzers isolation testers and related diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with industrial controls SCADA DAS telecommunications systems HVAC controls generators switchgear or utility equipment.
  • Solar PV operations maintenance installation commissioning or troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience is a plus.
  • FAA Part 107 NABCEP electrical license NCCER NETA HVAC electrical ETA or similar technical credentials are a plus.

  • Ability to work independently while recognizing when to stop work escalate a concern or request guidance.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to adapt technical skills from another industry to renewable energy equipment and field-service processes.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to drive a vehicle confidently and with a high degree of safety.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk distances up to three miles per day across active job sites and uneven or rugged terrain.
  • Ability to climb ladders stairs scaffolding and ramps while maintaining three points of contact.
  • Visual acuity for depth perception full field of vision and the ability to differentiate colors.
  • Comfort working in a variety of climate conditions including temperatures above 100 F or below 32 F for extended periods.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $75000 - $95000 encompassing base pay and potential incentive target opportunity. This range is a good faith estimate based on the positions requirements. Specific compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary depending on factors such as relevant knowledge skills training experience and market conditions.
