Software Integrity Engineer, CoreMotion, Sensing & Connectivity

The CoreMotion team builds innovative and intelligent features which through motion enhance the user experience across many Apple products. We are a high-energy team that has successfully delivered a wide spread of industry-leading software features including sensor fusion (e.g. device attitude and heading) motion gestures (e.g. raise wrist to light up Apple Watch) fitness tracking (e.g. steps and calories) and many more. You will own the quality of CoreMotion features end to end from user studies and data collection through algorithm validation and implementation testing to driving the issues you find back into the design.n

Design and execute verification and validation strategies for motion algorithms: challenge the design and its implementation define measurable pass/fail criteria and build the test cases that expose where the algorithm breaksnPlan and run user studies and structured data collections including protocol design ground truth methodology device and sensor configuration and the data quality checks that make a collection reusablenBuild and own the pipelines and processes that curate collected sensor data from ingestion through to its use in algorithm design and validationnDevelop test automation tooling and frameworks that execute motion tests continuously across devices and OS builds and triage the failures they surfacenReport and drive bugs to resolution and communicate test coverage quality status and risk to all relevant stakeholders to drive the end to end user experiencen

B.S. in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or equivalent experiencenProficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages or AI coding toolsnWorking knowledge of systems quality methodologies and test design practicesnDemonstrated problem solving and debugging skills across hardware and software boundariesnAbility to work independently and drive tasks to completion with minimal directionnStrong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

Experience testing sensor-based or embedded systems (IMU sensor fusion motion algorithms)nExperience building data curation or analysis pipelines labeled datasets and performance characterization toolingnExperience designing user studies or structured data collection protocolsnFamiliarity with test automation frameworks and continuous integration at scalenAttention to fine-grained detail in customer-facing quality
