The Software Engineering Intern will support HMHs Software Engineering team in the development testing and deployment of software applications used across our drilling and industrial control platforms. This internship provides hands-on experience with real-world software development in a collaborative agile environment. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers on tasks that may include coding code reviews unit testing tooling documentation and lab support; gaining practical experience applying classroom knowledge to industry problems while contributing to safe efficient and reliable products.

The Software Engineering Intern will be responsible for:

  • Assist senior software engineers with the design development and testing of application features and internal tools.
  • Write review and debug code under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Develop and execute unit and integration tests to validate functionality and improve code quality.
  • Assist with documentation of technical designs test results and manuals.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and manage assigned backlog tasks.
  • Help troubleshoot software issues reported by internal users QA or field/service teams and support root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with electrical controls and hardware engineers on cross-functional projects and lab testing.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled at the time internship commences and working toward completion of a Bachelor or Graduate degree from an accredited university or college with Electrical Engineering Electrical & Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline from an ABET-accredited university majors preferred.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Proficiency in Python Angular and/or JavaScript a plus.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multiple functions.
  • Ability to work independently or within a larger team as required by the project.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Outlook Teams Word Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now or in the future without employer sponsorship for employment visa status.
  • No relocation assistance provided.
  • Internship is 12 weeks May 24 - August 13 2027
