Software Engineer Traffic (ASE) Secure Service Networking

Help us to build the performant and reliable networking primitives that power Apple Services. Our mission is to enable service to service communication in a secure and scalable manner that is easy and straightforward for service owners. We are responsible for providing services meshes libraries proxies and other primitives to deliver an effective network for our peers. Our software must be able to operate at Apple scale.

As a Traffic Engineer you will orchestrate the design and development of cutting-edge traffic meshes proxies libraries and services that power Apple services at an unprecedented scale serving hundreds of millions of users globally. As a key player in our tech ecosystem you will take the lead in enhancing our network stack for improved mesh ingress and egress functionality. Bachelors degrees in Computer Science or related fieldn2 years of experience in software engineeringnSkilled with one or more advanced programming language such as C C Rust Swift Java or GonExperience operating workloads across multiple cloud-native environments (e.g. AliCloud AWS GCP)nExperience with automating operations (e.g. software deployments config changes) at scalenGeneral knowledge of large scale distributed systemsnPassionate about enabling internal partner teamsnPassionate about improving the team and partners you work withnA growth mindset

Collaborative approach working to make the team betternA deep understanding of traffic management at scale at Layer 4 or 7 of the network OSI modelnStrong hands on experience with Layer-4 or Layer-7 traffic meshes (e.g. Envoy or Istio) and control plane technologynUnderstanding of performance analysis and optimizationsnFull product lifecycle ownership mindset (design implementation production)nProfessional expertise in Traffic/Edge Engineering or Cloud NetworkingnProven expertise with Linux network stacknPassionate about working with open source projects and working across a large organization to meet Apples dynamic traffic needsnExperience with core production engineering best practices (e.g. designing for operability and scalability adopting SLOs eliminating toil)
