About this Role

We are seeking a hands-on Software/Embedded Systems Engineer to join our UAS development team. This role focuses primarily on developing C software running on embedded Linux platforms integrating sensors and avionics and working closely with hardware. Candidates should be comfortable working directly with physical systems performing hardware/software integration and developing applications using frameworks such as ROS/ROS2. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys practical engineering system-level debugging contributing to advanced UAS capabilities and supporting both next-generation technologies and proven platforms used to protect deployed warfighters.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain C software for UAS systems running on embedded Linux platforms.
• Implement and integrate ROS/ROS2 nodes for autonomy perception control mission management or sensor handling.
• Participate in software development across all phases of the lifecyclefrom concept development through lab integration evaluation and field testing.
• Perform hands-on hardware integration including connecting sensors payloads communication modules compute hardware and embedded control systems.
• Troubleshoot system-level issues involving software hardware interfaces networking and real-time constraints.
• Work cohesively on multi-functional teams to deliver reliable performant and well-validated system functionality under dynamic fast-paced program needs.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to software architecture system design improvements and development best practices.

Level II:

• B.S. in Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or related field with 2 years of software/hardware integration experience.

Level III:

• B.S. in Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or related field with 5 years of software/hardware integration experience.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in C.
• Experience developing on embedded Linux platforms.
• Ability to debug complex system interactions across hardware and software.
• Understanding of embedded systems concepts (I/O interfaces timing networking real-time application considerations).
• Familiarity with software configuration management defect tracking and continuous integration tools (e.g. GitLab Jenkins).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Experience with UAS autopilots and integration (PX4 ArduPilot)
• Experience working with ROS/ROS2.
• Demonstrated hands-on hardware experience (sensor integration interfaces debugging lab equipment usage)

Desired Qualifications

• Experience coding in Python
• Experience in Artificial Intelligence Computer Vision and machine learning techniques.
• Practical experience implementing or optimizing CV/ML models using frameworks such as OpenCV TensorRT TensorFlow/Keras/TensorFlow Lite PyTorch OpenVINO or similar.
• Experience building and maintaining toolchains for automated builds and deployments.
• Strong understanding of automated testing and CI/CD processes.
• Ability to work with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes logic analyzers spectrum analyzers protocol analyzers and emulators
