This role sits at the intersection of Agentic AI LLMs and large-scale distributed systems. As a Software Development Manager you will work closely with product mgmt science and engineering teams to plan and launch systems and shopping partner experiences.

As a Software Development Manager you will be responsible for ensuring your team successfully delivers on design development testing and the operations of systems your team owns. You should have an established track record of launching customer-facing experiences deep technical ability and excellent project management and communication skills. This role requires working closely with product management and UX to define strategy and requirements and leading a development team from design through delivery and subsequent operation. This position will also require regular communication with senior management on status risks and strategy.

The ideal candidate is deeply technical resourceful customer-focused and team oriented with clear communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. You can successfully influence partner teams and influence architecture decisions that impact multiple businesses. You have a proven track record of taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.

About the team
The Buy For Me purchasing team owns the mission of completing customer purchases on off-amazon sites through both deterministic protocols and agentic methods. This role owns the backend services to enable customer experiences and protocol-based integration (e.g. ACP UCP) with off-amazon partner sites.

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of engineering experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- 3 years of Software Engineer Software Developer or related occupational experience
- 1 years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience
- 1 years of developing large-scale multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java C# or C experience
- 1 years of developing large-scale multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience
- 1 years of developing large-scale multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience
- Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
