API Gateway is the front-door of the Serverless revolution an approach that lets customers turn business logic and application code into scalable fault-tolerant production without requiring every developer to become an expert in deployment technologies and infrastructure management. API Gateway turns daunting tasks such as traffic management authentication authorization metering monitoring and API versioning into easily configurable steps.

We are hiring engineering leaders who have a passion for reducing the time it takes for developers to ship scalable this role you will grow a diverse team of talented engineers. You will own the development lifecycle of existing services supporting that partnering with product management to enhance the customer experience. You will work with engineers to deliver scalable and latency sensitive software on time. You will set standards for the team and drive an inclusive culture.

- Own the outcomes of a team delivering high-impact software that protects millions of customer workloads
- Manage team performance career development and growth through regular coaching mentorship and feedback
- Build and execute technical roadmaps in partnership with product managers designers and stakeholders to ensure the right work is prioritized and delivered on time
- Evaluate trade-offs between operational excellence and feature development balancing short-term needs with long-term architectural goals
- Foster a positive inclusive team culture where engineers are empowered to deliver their best work
- Drive engineering best practices including code quality testing CI/CD and operational readiness
- Collaborate cross-functionally with security networking and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated solutions


A day in the life
You will spend your day meeting with people on your team and providing individual career development pathways for them. You will provide a strategic vision for you team and ensure that a high quality bar is maintained on the projects that your team delivers. You will work with other leaders across the organization to ensure API Gateway is delivering high impact projects for our customers.

About the team
Our team is part of the Amazon API Gateway Data Plane organization. We own critical components of the control plane configuration propagation and placement systems that determine how customer workloads are deployed and managed. Our work directly impacts the reliability and performance of millions of API requests ensuring customers can scale seamlessly. Youll lead engineers solving complex distributed systems challenges at massive scale in a fast-paced high-ownership environment.

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
