With trillions of objects to manage keeping track of what is in S3 is hard. S3 Index develops software responsible for durability and availability of key-value metadata. We tackle some of the hardest computer science problems. We build systems that can handle wildly varying access patterns and unprecedented load by our customers. Managing this growth auto-magically without the need for customers to provision capacity is what puts the Simple in Simple Storage Service (S3).

The S3 Buckets team is integral part of the S3 Index organization. The team owns S3 Buckets and S3 Access Points. S3 Buckets are the logical containers of objects. S3 Access Points simplifies data access for any AWS service or customer application that stores data in S3. S3 Buckets is looking for a passionate software engineer to build the next generation of S3 systems.

Creating a reliable scalable and flexible web service requires exceptional technical expertise a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (Iot) Platform and Productivity Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive design and bring innovative products and services to market.
- Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
- Work with other team members to investigate design approaches prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
- Take feature specifications and deliver working code that is maintainable and extendable.
- Build distributed storage index and query systems that are scalable fault-tolerant low cost and easy to manage/use.
- Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field

- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
