Job Summary

As a Software Development Engineer in Test on the Product Software Quality Assurance team your role will focus on building scalable integration automation frameworks and enhancing existing frameworks for automated testing of web based cloud backend and mobile applications. You will design and implement functional and integration automation tests for cloud ops used by the Zoox customers and the backend applications ensuring comprehensive test coverage at API integration and end-to-end level. By prioritizing automation for repetitive tasks developing robust regression suites and focusing on edge cases and high-stress scenarios you will ensure the reliability of safety-critical tools.

In this role you will:

Design implement and maintain scalable functional and test frameworks used across Zoox for integration and subsystem testing.
Collaborate closely with QA SDETs and software engineers on cross-team initiatives to maintain and continuously improve Zooxs end-to-end validation workflows.
Lead feature-level testing by defining test strategy and plans executing manual testing and driving the transition to robust automation within Zooxs integrated tooling ecosystem.
Support and partner with users of our frameworks and tools continuously refining them to improve reliability usability and overall engineering efficiency.
Implement AI tools to make testing faster and more efficient.

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science engineering mathematics or a related field
5 years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test with proven skills in writing automation frameworks for cloud applications from scratch.
Strong proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript (preferred) Pythonm and tools like Git Buildkite
Experience building functional and performance automated tests for backend cloud applications.
A self-starter who is capable of defining and implementing new tools and processes from start to finish.

Bonus Qualifications:

Experience in implementing AI tools in the testing domain (Claude)
Hands-on Playwright automation experience

$168000 - $211000 a year

Base Salary Range

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling as well as positioning within a level is determined by a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates relevant years of experience domain knowledge and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
