About the Team
The Retail Capacity Control team builds large-scale high-availability software systems that power Amazons supply chain through mathematical modeling simulations and data analysis. Our work directly impacts how efficiently products reach customers by optimizing capacity decisions across the network. About the Role
We are looking for a software engineer who is passionate about using technology to solve complex supply chain problems with meaningful customer impact.

- A track record of delivering results on complex technical projects
- Experience with optimization techniques (linear programming constraint solving heuristic methods) or a strong willingness to learn
- Ability to effectively partner with AI-powered development tools and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs for correctness security and scalability
- Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize across competing demands
- Comfort working collaboratively in a team of talented engineers with diverse perspectives and problem-solving approaches

Key job responsibilities
In this role you will:

- Design develop test troubleshoot debug deploy maintain document and deliver large-scale highly distributed real-time management systems that are core to effectively managing the supply chain business
- Build solutions using Java object-oriented (OO) design patterns NoSQL databases and data modeling techniqueswhile leveraging AI-powered development tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
- Gather and analyze business and functional requirements translating them into technical design specifications that balance innovation with operational reliability
- Serve as a key technical resource throughout the full development cycle from architecture through production deployment and ongoing operations
- Produce comprehensive usable software documentation and leverage AI assistants to maintain living documentation as systems evolve
- Recommend changes in development maintenance and system standardsincluding identifying opportunities to integrate AI/ML capabilities and automation into existing workflows
- Work in an agile development environment always focused on the highest-impact work and partnering with AI tools to maximize velocity
- Hire coach and mentor individuals fostering a culture of continuous learning and helping team members develop AI-era engineering skills

In this role you will be expected to:
- Use AI coding assistants and agents as productivity multipliers while maintaining accountability for code quality and system reliability
- Evaluate and integrate AI/ML models into production systems understanding their limitations and failure modes
- Shift focus from purely writing code to overseeing AI-assisted development system design and ensuring production readiness
- Continuously learn and adapt as AI tools evolve staying current with best practices for human-AI collaboration in engineering

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
