Software Development Engineer II, AWS EKS, AWS EKS

Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is a fully managed service that simplifies running Kubernetes on AWS. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDEII) to join the management plane and insights team responsible for EKS availability and resiliency AWS service integrations and cluster insights across the entire fleet.

We own the services that generate cluster insights at massive scale handling millions of events per second across one of the worlds largest managed Kubernetes fleets. We also own EKS zonal shift including Kubernetes control plane integration with AWS Application Recovery Controller (ARC). When an Availability Zone goes unhealthy our services shift traffic to healthy zones automatically with no customer action required.

Key job responsibilities
Youll work on fleet-wide data consistency multi-region failover real-time ingestion at millions of events per second and high-availability service design problems that sit at the intersection of distributed systems Kubernetes and operational automation at massive scale.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field
- Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Python Ruby Golang Java C C# Rust

- Experience in Kubernetes Docker or containers ecosystem or experience that includes strong analytical skills attention to detail and effective communication abilities and experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
- Experience with AWS or cloud technologies
- Experience with programming/scripting (Batch VB PowerShell Java C# Chef Perl Ruby and/or PHP) or experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting and experience in Kubernetes Docker or containers ecosystem
- Experience with project delivery
- Experience in enterprise architecture including virtualization technologies & distributed architecture
- Experience developing operational metrics

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
