Software Dev Engineer II, AWS Transfer Family

AWS Transfer Family (launched at re:Invent 2018) is looking for talented engineers with a passion for solving challenging problems to join the team and help us take the service to the next level. AWS Transfer Family is a fully managed service supporting file transfers over different file transfer protocols for AWS Storage Services like Amazon S3. AWS Transfer Family helps customers seamlessly migrate file transfer workflows to AWS freeing customers from managing operating and securing their own file transfer solution. Customers can easily create file transfer endpoints that allow their business partners to easily send files directly to AWS Storage such as AWS S3. We are looking for a team member to understand the B2B file transfer and transactional needs of enterprises across key verticals and geographies as they migrate to the cloud and what new file transfer products and features we should build to accelerate such migrations and unlock value from AWS integrations.

A day in the life
What makes this role exciting is that every day brings new challenges as customer workloads grow and technology evolves. Much of your time will be hands-on with our systems.

You might be:
* Designing and writing code to delight our customers to deliver an impactful feature adding optimization functions to scale the performance and so on.
* Diving into data to make design decisions or measure effectiveness of changes you make.
* Debugging complex distributed systems issues that require careful analysis and creative problem-solving.
* Review proposals and code from peers from the team as well as partner teams.

About the team
Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures and were building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior engineers truly enjoy mentoring more junior engineers and engineers from non-traditional backgrounds through one-on-one mentoring and thorough but kind code reviews.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1 years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1 years of designing and developing large-scale multi-tiered multi-threaded embedded or distributed software applications tools systems and services using: C# C Java or Perl experience
- 1 years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience effectively using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Kiro Cursor Claude Code GitHub Copilot) to accelerate data analysis software design implementation review and investigation.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
