Responsibilities for the Shipping Supervisor include but are not limited to:
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies procedures and housekeeping standards.
- A commitment to Safety Environmental Quality Productivity and profitability through leadership throughout the division.
- Overseeing the safe operations of shipping metal building components as prescribed by specifications and order releases.
- Managing logistics carrier relationships freight costs and delivery schedules to ensure a low cost and on time deliveries.
- Familiarity of machinery and material handling processes for each aspect within the department.
- Communications within the group to ensure solid teamwork and a productive work environment.
- Reviewing teammate performance and determining coaching needs through evaluating and providing consistent performance reviews and setting expectations during coaching or growth & development sessions.
- Interviewing hiring and accountability decisions for teammates within the group.
- Travel with short notice to best-mark with other Nucor divisions to improve our services quality products and competitiveness.
- Develop the members of the department beyond the basic functions of their role including but not limited to business acumen people skills and the like to help them reach their full potential.
- Actively engage with the Production Manager and other members of Division Leadership to strategically plan and execute initiatives to improve safety quality efficiency and profitability.
- Responsibilities will include the shipping operations at Terrell TX.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Buildings Group Texas will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
- 2 years leadership experience including overseeing direct reports and experience with coaching and mentoring
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
- 2-4 year experience in shipping and metal buildings
- Strong knowledge of forklift operations and their related safety concerns
- Strong knowledge of overhead crane operations and their related safety concerns
- Experience with troubleshooting production lines and material handling systems
Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
