Service & HVAC Technician

Position Summary:

50% - Repairs Units: This position is customer-oriented and is responsible for maintaining the fleet at locations monitoring units and making repairs and modifications as needed to units on location.

50% - Service Technician: In addition to the location service calls this position is responsible for the construction and repair of units in the yard in compliance with Satellite Shelters policies and procedures and according to specifications aligned by the Branch Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance emergency repairs and final repairs on all HVAC units and related equipment.
• Respond to HVAC service calls directed by the Branch Manager/Operations Manager.
• Diagnose troubleshoot disassemble repair maintain and service a variety of HVAC equipment.
• Clean and remove dust dirt and debris from clogged HVAC systems.
• Recommend and order necessary equipment purchases and maintain work order recordkeeping from initiation to completion.
• Work and assist other maintenance employees in responding to emergencies and resolving work-related issues.
• Maintain accurate records for labor materials work order completion project orders manufacturers technical data sheets material safety data sheets and other maintenance records.
• Communicate effectively with team vendors and associates with professionalism to resolve issues that arise.
• Respond to service issues on Satellite fleet equipment as needed including but not limited to: door repairs plumbing issues roof issues vandalism repairs security installation or removal tile repairs etc.
• Inspect inbound fleet for damages QC checks lot checks and monthly safety inspections.

Repairs Units:

• Interface with customers at job sites
• Prepare units for rental in a timely manner according to Satellite quality standards
• Making repairs and modifications to units as required
• Perform maintenance on units while on location
• Take necessary photographs of units as required
• Performs other duties as required
• Clean all units
• Wash and wax flooring
• Replace and install floor tile
• Replace and install windows and doors
• Replace and install exterior siding and other building components
• Paint all portions of units to specifications
• Remove and replace walls
• Remove and replace lighting plumbing and electrical
• Perform light carpentry work/repair on customer job site.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Coordinates and supervises Service Technician activities in conjunction with branch leadership directives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Clean MVR required

• Ability to pass required background checks
• Average computer knowledge
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling License
• Ability to travel up to 80% of the time
• Intermediate to senior-level construction experience required.
• Specialized Carpentry HVAC Electrical and/or other Construction Experience skills required.

• Demonstrated leadership qualifications.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of maintenance/construction supervision experience required
• HVAC Certification or degree from an accredited training continuing education facility including but not limited to: universities colleges technical colleges vocational schools etc.
• Strong interpersonal skills in working with both customers vendors and subcontractors.
• Excellent problem-solving and detail-oriented skills.

• Basic mechanical skills to work on vehicles
• Average ability to read and write to maintain records and inventory
• Good organizational skills

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the use of tools associated with the position.

Physical/Mental Demands:

• Wears personal protective equipment as required
• Physical and mental ability to operate company vehicles and associated equipment
• Demonstrated ability to perform rigorous outdoor and indoor duties including walking standing climbing stooping squatting bending twisting kneeling reaching sitting lifting grasping pushing pulling manual dexterity etc.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Good fine motor skills coordination range of motion and grip strength
• Ability to work in all climate conditions.
• Ability to be exposed to loud noise levels.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools
• Ability to work in an environment containing dirt grease mud snow rain and dust.
• Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and heavy equipment.
• Ability to hold air impact tools up to 30lb.
