Job Summary
Key job responsibilities
Customer Engagement & Requirements Gathering: Serve as a primary technical point of contact for internal and external customers. Conduct discovery sessions gather use-case requirements and translate customer needs into quantifiable technical specifications and design goals.
Product Definition & Roadmap Support: Partner with product management to define product requirements prioritize features and shape the sensor product roadmap based on customer feedback market trends and technical feasibility.
System Architecture: Contribute to sensor system architecture selections ensuring designs meet performance cost reliability and integration requirements across mechanical electrical and optical domains.
Technology Benchmarking & Competitive Analysis: Evaluate emerging sensing technologies benchmark against competitive solutions and identify opportunities to differentiate. Maintain awareness of industry trends academic research and market dynamics in robotics sensing (navigation perception manipulation).
Technical Challenge Identification: Proactively identify and communicate technical risks and enablement problems for customer applications. Develop mitigation strategies and trade-off assessments to guide engineering selections.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across hardware firmware optical mechanical electrical test and manufacturing teams to ensure cohesive system-level solutions. Communicate effectively across disciplines to align stakeholders on requirements and priorities.
A day in the life
Mornings typically begin with cross-functional standups alongside optical electrical and mechanical teams to align on sensor development priorities. Mid-morning involves customer calls gathering requirements clarifying use cases and presenting technical trade-offs. Afternoons shift between benchmarking vying sensor technologies updating product requirement documents and collaborating with product managers on roadmap selections. Time is also spent examining market trends reviewing architecture proposals and documenting technical challenges that impact customer enablement. The role requires constant context-switching between deep technical analysis and stakeholder communication ensuring customer needs continuously inform engineering direction.

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Systems Engineering or related fields
- Experience communicating with customers technical regulatory business teams and management to collect requirements describe product features and technical designs
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
- Experience translating customer needs into innovative and detailed product requirements for customer-facing online and mobile products/services
- 5 years of experience in systems engineering sensor development or related technical roles
- Strong understanding of sensor technologies (imaging depth sensing LiDAR ToF or similar)
- Experience in product or program management product marketing business development or technology
- Knowledge of key technology and market trends
- Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation
- Experience working in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional organization
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Systems Engineering or related fields
- Experience in mobile robotics sensing applications (navigation manipulation perception)
- Experience with optoelectronic packaging sensor architecture or system-level integration

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
