Job Title: Senior Technical Trainer

Job Location: Torrance CA

Salary: $90000-$120000/yr DOE

The Trainer is responsible for delivering maintaining and continuously improving all special process training related to IPC J STD 001 with Space Addendum and NASA STD 8739.1. This role ensures operators inspectors and technicians performing work on flight hardware are trained certified and current per industry NASA and customer requirements. The Trainer serves as the companys Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) and primary authority for soldering harness staking and inspection workmanship instruction.

In addition to special process training this role leads the Stellant Learning Center by conducting structured in person training for core competency programs such as ESD Control FOD Prevention Good Documentation Practices Avoiding Verbal Orders and other required on the job training modules.

Responsibilities
  • Special Process Training Delivery Deliver instructor led and hands on training for soldering inspection staking harness assembly and other processes governed by IPC J STD 001 Space and NASA STD 8739.1.
  • Core Competency Training Conduct in person training sessions for ESD FOD Good Documentation Practices Avoid Verbal Orders and other foundational Stellant Learning Center courses required for all personnel.
  • Certification & Recertification Management Administer operator and inspector certifications including initial qualification practical evaluations and scheduled recertification cycles.
  • Curriculum Development Develop maintain and update training materials practical exercises and assessments to reflect current revisions of J STD 001 Space NASA STD 8739.1 and internal/core competency requirements.
  • Audit Ready Training Records Ensure all training certification and competency evidence is accurately recorded within the IPC Database as well as within the LMS (Litmos) and available for customer NASA and internal audits.
  • Operator Competency Verification Perform hands on evaluations and workmanship reviews to validate operator proficiency before authorization to work on flight hardware.
  • Cross Functional Support Partner with Quality Engineering Manufacturing and Process Owners to ensure training aligns with process changes corrective actions and customer requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement Identify training gaps propose improvements and support RCCA activities related to workmanship escapes or audit findings.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years as Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) for IPC J STD 001 w/ Space Addendum with active certification
  • Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with Through-Hole SMT and Wire and Terminal soldering operations
  • Certified NASA Trainer Level 1B for NASA STD 8739.1 with active certification
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace/defense electronics manufacturing soldering or inspection.
  • Experience delivering ESD FOD GDP and other core competency training.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 workmanship acceptance criteria and flight hardware handling.
  • Ability to evaluate operator workmanship and provide corrective coaching.
  • Experience maintaining training records in an LMS (Litmos preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to deliver structured audit defensible instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification to additional IPC Standards (IPC-A-610 IPC-A-600
  • Certification to additional NASA standards (8739.2 8739.3 8739.4).
  • Experience supporting customer audits (LMCO Boeing NG RTX Airbus).
  • Familiarity with prime customer standards and requirements (NGC LMCO Boeing RTX Airbus etc.) relating to electronic components assembly soldering workmanship and flighthardware acceptance criteria.
  • Background in Quality Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or Process Ownership.
  • Familiarity with torque training ESD monitoring systems and other special process disciplines.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to perform hands on soldering inspection and assembly demonstrations.
  • Ability to support multiple shifts and training cycles as needed.
  • Occasional travel for training updates or certification renewal.
