Join the Rotary Wing Platform Systems team within Integrated Avionics Systems at Collins Aerospace where youll help develop integrate and test advanced avionics supporting the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC). Our engineers work on the Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) delivering mission-critical capabilities for the MH-60M Black Hawk and MH-47G Chinook while helping shape the next generation of Special Operations aircraft technologies.

This is more than a systems engineering role. Youll work alongside experienced architects program leaders flight test engineers and military customers to solve complex technical challenges and deliver capabilities that directly support mission success.

As a member of the SOA CAAS Platform Systems Engineering team you will lead technical efforts throughout the systems engineering lifecycle from concept development through integration verification and customer delivery.


What You Will Do:

  • Develop system architectures requirements interface definitions and technical design artifacts supporting SOA CAAS programs.
  • Plan and execute system verification activities including laboratory integration aircraft integration and flight test support.
  • Collaborate with Program Chief Engineers Architects Product Owners Software
  • Hardware Test Safety Cybersecurity and customers to develop technically sound solutions.
  • Participate in proposal activities technical planning and engineering estimates supporting future SOA programs.
  • Support technical reviews customer briefings design reviews and engineering trade studies.
  • Mentor junior engineers while helping develop a culture centered on technical excellence accountability and continuous learning.
  • Travel as required (typically less than 25% annual) to support integration customer meetings and flight test activities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense SECRET Security Clearance within the first 6 months in the role.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Must be able to attain an FAA Class III flight physical within 6 months of hire
  • Experience with Collins Aerospace Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS)
  • Experience with Design Assurance Records (DARs)
  • Military or commercial avionics systems engineering experience
  • Current or previous military experience
  • Experience with: DOORS JIRA PREP SVN Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of: MIL-STD-1553B ARINC-429 Ethernet-based avionics architectures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both engineers and customers
  • Experience leading technical efforts or mentoring engineers

The salary range for this role is 86800 USD - 165200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
