Job Summary
HEPCO is seeking an experienced senior specialist mechanical engineer for a permanent full-time opportunity supporting sophisticated aerospace and defense programs in Palm Bay Florida.
This is an excellent opportunity for a cleared mechanical engineer who enjoys complex hands-on hardware work and wants to contribute to mission-critical programs. The selected professional will design develop qualify integrate and test advanced mechanical precision-mechanism and electro-mechanical hardware within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

- Design develop and support the qualification of complex mechanical hardware precision mechanisms and electromechanical systems.
- Create revise and release 3D CAD models part drawings assembly drawings schematics and associated engineering documentation.
- Define mechanical requirements; perform concept development material selection engineering trade studies and design-optimization analyses.
- Lead or contribute to preliminary and final mechanical design efforts including design reviews product change reviews and engineering-change implementation.
- Develop prototype hardware and support mechanical assembly integration troubleshooting and laboratory testing.
- Create mechanical subsystem test plans procedures reports and technical-data-package documentation.
- Evaluate component and assembly performance including thermal structural fit function and manufacturability considerations.
- Participate in PDRs CDRs peer reviews customer meetings field tests and demonstrations.
- Collaborate with systems electrical manufacturing test quality and programming teams.
- Provide technical directions to designers technicians operators and other project contributors as needed.
- Present technical concepts design status risks and recommendations to internal leadership customers and other program stakeholders.
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline plus at least 6 years of relevant experience; or
- Graduate degree plus at least 4 years of relevant experience; or
- At least 10 years of directly relevant engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
- Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI security clearance; a TS clearance that has been active within the last two years may also be considered.
- Demonstrated mechanical engineering and critical-hardware design experience.
- Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD-based design.
- Experience developing complex mechanical hardware from concept through fabrication integration test and release.
- Ability to work independently manage technically challenging assignments and operate effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
- Willingness to work hands-on with hardware in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to travel occasionally as program needs require.
