Apple Service Engineering (ASE)s Compute team is seeking an experienced SRE software engineer to build and enhance compute infrastructure ensuring that services scale to meet the demands of Apples Services offerings. You will work with world-class engineers on core components of Apples Cloud Platform with an emphasis on VM lifecycle management and bare metal infrastructure to help fit Apples diverse needs. Ultimately you will help build the platform that delivers our applications at scale to our end users. This role offers unique opportunities to solve problems through AI-assisted automation including building and leveraging AI tools to accelerate triage operational workflows and infrastructure tooling tailored to SRE workflows and infrastructure operations.

Design build and implement innovative solutions around VM orchestration and bare metal provisioning in a highly distributed environmentnOperate monitor and triage all aspects of our production and non-production compute environmentsnPrepare alert handling procedures runbooks and collaborate with other SRE teamsnParticipate in on-call rotations to troubleshoot and resolve production issues minimizing downtimenAutomate deployment and orchestration of compute infrastructure as well as other routine processesnLeverage AI to gain insight across large systems and build tools that can be used in a production environmentnInteract with and support partner teams including engineering QA and program management

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience. Advanced Degree preferred.n7 years in a Site Reliability Engineering Infrastructure focused rolenExcellent verbal and written communication skillsnAutomation advocate with a strong sense of ownership - you truly believe in removing operational load via softwarenStrong experience with building and scaling cloud infrastructure and large-scale distributed systemsnExperience with OpenStack KVM/hypervisor technologies and KubernetesnHighly proficient in Go or PythonnBe capable of collaborating and coordinating with multiple distinct engineering teams and mentoring othersnExperienced with highly distributed unix systems

Experience managing scaling and troubleshooting at a planet scalenExperience operating large-scale multi-tenant Infrastructure as a Managed servicenExpert-level proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Chef Ansible or Terraform
