Position Summary

The Senior SME is engaged to provide expert instruction facilitation and mentorship for a scheduled delivery of the Joint Logistics Support to SOFInternational (JLLS I) Course. This short-term instructional assignment includes limited pre-course preparation and delivery of the five-day resident course. Additional instructional opportunities may be available as future courses are scheduled.

The position supports JSOUs international partnernation education program by delivering applied logistics curriculum emphasizing joint interagency intergovernmental and multinational SOF support concepts. The SME engages alongside international logisticians to share best practices analyze case studies and guide a capstone syndicate planning exercise.

The SME must possess extensive realworld SOF logistics experience at the Battalion level or above with operational exposure to SOTF JSOTF SOJTF or TSOC environments. The role requires strong instructional skills an ability to work in culturally diverse environments and the ability to mentor partnernation officers with varying levels of joint logistics experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Instruction & Facilitation

  • Deliver classroom instruction for all modules of the 5day JLLSI course including doctrinal overviews partnernation comparative discussions sustainment planning distribution processes and logistics C2.
  • Facilitate daily practical exercises and the final capstone syndicate planning event.
  • Lead guided discussions that encourage partnernation sharing of logistics frameworks constraints and approaches to SOF sustainment.

Curriculum Preparation & Review

  • Conduct preevent preparation including familiarization with JSOU lesson materials slides vignettes and exercise design.
  • Adapt instruction dynamically to the logistics maturity level of the participating partner nations.
  • Provide recommended updates to course materials based on lessons learned and student feedback.

Operational Expertise Contribution

  • Present relevant realworld SOF logistics vignettes from SOTF JSOTF SOJTF or TSOC experiences to illustrate key concepts.
  • Provide expert insight on sustainment planning distribution networks interoperability challenges and coalition sustainment operations.

PartnerNation Engagement

  • Operate professionally in an international training environment respecting partnernation customs professional norms and organizational structures.
  • Encourage coalition interoperability and shared problem solving.

Reporting & Course Outputs

  • Support preparation of student rosters afteraction reviews (AARs) and course assessments.
  • Provide input for partnernation feedback and future course refinement.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSA)

Knowledge

  • SOF and Joint Logistics Doctrine:
    Indepth understanding of U.S. joint logistics doctrine SOF sustainment doctrine and multinational logistics concepts.
  • Operational Logistics Experience:
    Applied knowledge of logistics functions (supply maintenance distribution transportation contracting medical logistics etc.) at Battalion level or higher.
  • SOF Operational Frameworks:
    Direct exposure to SOTF JSOTF SOJTF or TSOC operationsunderstanding how logistics integrates into planning and command & control.
  • Coalition & Multinational Operations:
    Understanding of interoperability challenges multinational logistics networks statusofforces agreements and OCONUS sustainment considerations.

Skills

  • Instruction & Facilitation:
    Ability to deliver structured lessons facilitate diverse groups manage discussions and guide planning exercises.
  • CrossCultural Communication:
    Skilled in communicating technical logistics concepts to international audiences with varying English proficiency.

    Capable of guiding partnernation logisticians through scenariobased sustainment planning.

    Ability to work collaboratively with other instructors interpreters (if used) and JSOU staff.

    Ability to translate personal operational logistics experience into relevant examples and case studies.
  • Adapt to PartnerNation Requirements:
    Tailor instruction to differing national logistics structures and levels of resourcing.
  • Operate in OCONUS Training Environments:
    Ability to travel internationally operate professionally in unfamiliar environments and maintain cultural sensitivity.
  • Mentor and Coach:
    Provide constructive feedback to partnernation officers and foster a productive learning environment.


Minimum Qualifications

  • SECRET clearance minimum.
  • Minimum 10 years of SOF or Joint Logistics experience at BN staff or higher.
  • Experience at SOTF JSOTF SOJTF or TSOC level strongly preferred.
  • Experience planning or executing logistics for SOF operations (exercises deployments missions).
  • Prior instructor facilitator or mentor experience (formal or informal).
  • Ability to travel OCONUS for the course period.


Preferred Qualifications

  • JSOU teaching experience or exposure to PME classroom environments.
  • Previous work with partner nations or multinational exercises (e.g. FID JCS exercises coalition operations).
  • Mastery of joint planning processes especially Joint Planning Process (JPP) logistics roles.
  • Graduate of SOF PME (e.g. Joint SOF Senior Enlisted Academy SOFfocused staff course).
  • Foreign language familiarity (helpful but not required).
