- Travel Requirements: Up to 20% travel; area includes all of the clients service territory (almost to Oregon down to Santa Barbara and almost to Tahoe)

The Electric Engineering department ensures all manners of electric engineering including electric standards and process safety electric design engineering instrumentation testing and controls undergrounding electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for Electric Operations partners. The organization is accountable for program planning financial budgeting and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2000 coworkers.
This is a senior-level engineer position represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and subject to collective bargaining. This role requires mastery of journey engineer job duties and is responsible for leading engineering and design of complex projects. It applies extensive knowledge of concepts principles and practices to resolve complex problems with only general direction. The position provides leadership coaching technical direction knowledge transfer and assistance to technical employees and teams. Additional responsibilities beyond the Project Engineer include but are not limited to the following: deliver presentations lead team meetings and interpret industry practices and codes. This position is hybrid working from a remote office and an assigned work location based on business need; the assigned work location will be within the clients service territory.
- Manage large complex projects and perform engineering analyses studies and develop conceptual designs.
- Lead coach direct and assist technical employees and teams on technical issues; may act as an engineering mentor.
- Assist in finalizing contract project specifications and the technical evaluation of contract project bids.
- Provide support to other departments in land permitting and legal issues.
- Resolve problems of complex scope; assignments may provide an opportunity for creative or non-standard approaches; under general direction independently plan work to meet assigned general objectives; work may be reviewed upon completion and solutions may provide an opportunity for creative/non-standard approaches.
- Maintain external contacts with contractors vendors and local public agencies with ministerial authority; maintain internal contacts with clients project team members and company management; may provide technical direction to less experienced team members; exchange information and solve problems with others outside the team.
- 8 years of cumulative experience in electrical engineering and design
- Experience in multiple large-scale large-budget electric substation projects
- Experience in substation engineering
- Skilled in project management
- Current California PE license
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited curriculum in the U.S. or the equivalent from outside the U.S.

- Hybrid work model: 2 days per week in office remainder remote
- Up to 20% travel within the clients service territory (northern and central California region)
