A well-established U.S.-based electronics manufacturer is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership and oversight for the planning design and production of metal components and mechanical systems.
The successful candidate will combine advanced mechanical-design expertise with team leadership and manufacturing experience helping projects progress efficiently through the full production cycle while mentoring engineering personnel and optimizing manufacturing workflows.
The position supports sophisticated engineering applications involving electric-vehicle powertrains semiconductor fabrication advanced energy research high-power electronics and other technically demanding applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the mechanical engineering team balance project assignments support professional development and participate in interviewing and hiring engineering personnel.
- Product Development: Serve as a primary contributor for electronic packaging qualification of purchased materials and design of manufactured components.
- Strategic Design: Lead preliminary and detailed mechanical designs and drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor while ensuring designs meet established engineering standards.
- Project Management: Oversee new-product development from initial concept and prototyping through production and market release.
- Vendor Management: Serve as a technical point of contact for suppliers and vendors resolving complex component issues and developing appropriate engineering solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with senior technical leadership production teams and other engineering disciplines to ensure design manufacturability.
- Documentation & Control: Manage complex Bills of Materials (BOMs) engineering revision control and SVN-based drawing repositories.
- Compliance: Ensure mechanical products and systems comply with applicable safety environmental and industry requirements.
- Safety: Perform engineering activities in accordance with applicable workplace and OSHA safety requirements and established PPE procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required; Masters degree preferred.
- 58 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Expert-level proficiency with Autodesk Inventor SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Extensive experience with metal fabrication insulation components and material science.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems complex BOM management and SVN version-control protocols.
- Strong understanding of Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing principles and quality inspection.
- Familiarity with power electronics concepts and high-voltage safety is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate technical information to senior leadership.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Candidates located within approximately one hour of the Flemington New Jersey area are strongly preferred.
