Senior Marine Propulsion Engineer

AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides comprehensive engineering support to the USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center to reconstitute and modernize the Coast Guards aging fleet. • Provide technical support and documentation design develop and evaluate the operation of marine vessels ship machinery and related equipment to include but not limited to: power supply and propulsion systems.
• Research and develop ship propulsion systems to include but not limited to: diesels gas turbines diesel-electric systems propellers rudders thrusters gears shafts bearings seals noise vibration and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems and apply to applicable design and requirements.
• Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
• Design develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels shipboard propulsion machinery
• Review and develop technical data packages
• Provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements
• Conduct and oversee trade studies.
• Provide knowledge of ABS NVR and commercial ship design rules and regulations.

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineer or related field
• 6 years of experience with developing ship propulsion and control systems machinery arrangements weight assessments and conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
• U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
