Senior Laboratory Evidence Control Specialist
Job Summary
This position is located in the DEA Operational Support Division Office of Forensic Science (SF) Field Laboratories.
This positions primary purpose is to manage the life cycle of all evidence submitted to the laboratory including non-drug drug bulk and non-diversion/diversion seizures.
As a your typical work assignments may include:
- Performing day-to-day administrative tasks; maintaining files and processing paperwork while monitoring all laboratory evidence inventory levels and movement using manual or computer automated systems and by running required quality control checks and performing identified follow-up activities.
- Compiling and preparing reports for laboratory management as needed concerning identified inconsistencies in the reports and suggesting the steps to be taken to correct the inconsistencies.
- Communicating evidence handling best practices for cataloging maintaining tracking reporting and other administrative matters affecting the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the evidence program.
- Maintaining proficiency in understanding and application of DEA and Laboratory policies and procedures regarding evidence handling.
- Training non-laboratory personnel (DEA and non-DEA) on all aspects of evidence processing and procedures including submission protocols evidence packaging quality procedures and completion of documents.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Employment is subject to the successful completion of a background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

- Employee may be required to be trained/certified in the operation of industrial equipment such as forklifts. Employee may be required to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B and drive semitrucks and/or box trucks.
