Job Overview

Fund Control & Operations (US Funds) sits at the intersection of accounting investment operations risk management technology and innovation playing a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of Wellingtons Funds and supporting exceptional outcomes for our clients. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated professional to work on complex and evolving investment products while partnering with senior leaders across the firm to drive operational excellence strengthen controls and lead transformative initiatives.

The Senior Fund Controller is a highly skilled accounting operational and technology professional responsible for the accuracy integrity and control of fund accounting valuation performance and operational activities across mutual funds collective investment trusts interval funds hedge funds private funds and other investment products.

This role serves as a subject matter expert and trusted business partner combining fund accounting knowledge with advanced analytical operational and technology capabilities. The Senior Fund Controller independently manages complex issues leads projects oversees third-party service providers and drives process improvement and automation initiatives that enhance scalability control effectiveness and operational efficiency.

The position collaborates extensively with Technology Fund Administrators Custodians Transfer Agents Treasury Valuation Security Operations Security Valuation Internal Audit and external auditors to deliver well-controlled scalable processes that support investment operations and protect shareholder interests.

Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Operations

  • Perform daily oversight of fund accounting activities conducted by third-party administrators.
  • Review trial balances expense accruals receivables payables security positions and capital activity.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting exceptions with limited supervision.
  • Serve as an escalation point for accounting and operation matters applying specialized expertise.
  • Review pricing exceptions fair value determinations stale prices and valuation-related risks.
  • Analyze complex securities derivatives structured products alternative investments and privates.
  • Prepare valuation support materials and participate in valuation governance and oversight processes.
  • Monitor portfolio-level valuation trends identify emerging risks and escalate concerns when appropriate.
  • Review and validate fund and share class performance returns.

Reconciliation & Control

  • Oversee cash position valuation and market value reconciliations.
  • Analyze exceptions for root causes and implement sustainable remediation solutions.
  • Evaluate operational controls and identify opportunities to strengthen oversight processes.
  • Maintain high standards of documentation control evidence audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to enhance transparency and monitoring capabilities.
  • Support internal audits external audits regulatory examinations and due diligence reviews.

Operational Risk & Service Provider Oversight

  • Manage relationships with fund administrators custodians transfer agents and other service providers.
  • Monitor service-level performance key operating metrics and control effectiveness.
  • Lead discussions with service providers to optimize service level standards.
  • Identify operational risks and recommend enhancements to improve resiliency and control effectiveness.

Technology Automation & Process Improvement

  • Design and implement automation solutions that improve efficiency scalability and risk management.
  • Develop and enhance dashboards and workflows that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Use data analytics and technology tools to identify trends monitor risks and improve decision-making.
  • Partner with Technology teams to automate manual processes and modernize fund oversight activities.
  • Challenge existing operating models and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce risk and enhance the client experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting finance economics information systems or related discipline.
  • 4 years of experience in fund accounting fund administration or fund operations.
  • Baseline knowledge of mutual funds collective investment trusts hedge funds interval funds and alternative investments.
  • Understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
  • Baseline understanding of accounting for fixed income and common stock.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in a collaborative team-based results-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • Progress toward MBA CFA is a plus.

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary variable compensation and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 80000 - 150000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. Base salaryis only one component of Wellingtons total compensation approach.
